UPDATE: WI-05 Farm Operators Eligible for USDA Disaster Aid
WASHINGTON, DC – Last month, Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) sent a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Vilsack requesting that Washington and Dodge counties be designated as contiguous disaster areas due to drought declarations.
This week, USDA announcedWashington county has been added to this disaster designation.
“I’m encouraged to see Secretary Vilsack and USDA, per my recommendation, dove deeper into the circumstances on the ground and included Washington County as a contiguous disaster area. I hope the Secretary takes a closer look at how drought conditions have impacted the entire Fifth Congressional District and add Dodge County to this disaster designation as farm operators in this county need help too”said Congressman Fitzgerald.
Farm operators in Waukesha, Milwaukee, Jefferson, and Washington counties may be eligible for USDA assistance. To learn more about the programs and benefits available, Congressman Fitzgerald encourages farmers to contact their local FSA office and to read more here.
Congressman Scott Fitzgerald was sworn in to the 117th Congress on January 3, 2021 and is proud to represent Wisconsin’s Fifth Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.
