Fitzgerald Statement on Election of Speaker Mike Johnson

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued the following statement regarding the election of Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04) to serve as Speaker of the House in the 118th Congress:

“First and foremost, I’d like to congratulate my colleague and friend Mike Johnson on his election to lead the People’s House. It’s been a tough few weeks of building consensus, but I am proud of the candidate our conference has coalesced behind. Speaker Johnson is an honest Member of Congress who not only has strong conservative values but lives those values out through his work,” said Rep. Fitzgerald. “I’ve gotten to know Speaker Johnson through working together on the Judiciary Committee, and I couldn’t be happier to have him at the helm.
