Fitzgerald Responds to President Biden’s Address on Afghanistan

August 16, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued the following statement on President Biden’s address to the nation about the catastrophe in Afghanistan today:

“It’s disappointing to hear the President shift blame today after staying silent for the past week as the situation in Afghanistan spiraled into a full-scale crisis. President Biden stayed silent as the Taliban cemented power taking one capital after another, the most devastating takeover happening in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, over the weekend.

“The President chose today to speak, not to meet the level of leadership this historic moment requires, but out of pressure from the entire global community. President Biden continues to fail the American people and our partners who remain in a precarious situation overseas.”
