Fitzgerald Statement on President’s Visit to Wisconsin

June 29, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) made the following statement after President Biden’s visit to Wisconsin:

“President Biden omitted important details about his new infrastructure deal while visiting Wisconsin today.

“For starters, his infrastructure deal has a multi-trillion-dollar weight attached to it in the form of a budget reconciliation bill. Democrats in both the House and Senate have threatened to blow up the President’s deal unless their radical budget reconciliation bill with its massive price tag, is passed alongside it.

“Not to mention, his visit to Wisconsin is happening at the same time House Democrats are moving forward with a partisan plan that does more to advance the Green New Deal than improve infrastructure in the U.S. Rather, the bill disadvantages rural America, bankrupts the Highway Trust Fund, and ties up half the funding in the bill on Green New Deal mandates.

“Americans deserve a responsible investment in our future, not boondoggle proposals that spend more on partisan schemes than U.S. infrastructure.”
